The world around us
The magic of the weekend. I love being able to sit, unwind from a stressful week, and enjoy the wonderful scenery around me. I am forever in love with Maine it seems like, the ability to go from the city to the beach to a lake in a nearby town with friends. Maine seems to hold everything close that you would ever want for something beautiful to enjoy.
This is one of my favorite pictures of the city- MECA’s Shepley St. Dorms in winter, illuminated by the street lights against the snow. For years I have lived in the dorms, and I love how I can walk from a long day in class, and look up the street to “home sweet home” nestled in between all the high buildings. While living at Oak and Shepley throughout the years, spending so many seasons here that I have really had it grow on me. The community, the closeness of friends all around you, close proximity to everything… It’s a perfect experience coming away from home and living on your own.
Although I have loved it here, I’m getting ready to start a new chapter in my life in Portland.
I took this picture while cheerfully viewing my new apartment I got with 2 of my very good friends. We’re all going to give a try to living off campus, and although I am going to miss all the good friends I made there, the beauty of it all is that I am only moving 30 seconds away from the dorms and the doors of the school (Can you believe it? The dorms already bring us about 1 minute away from class, but this place lets me walk out my front door and be able to see the school’s entrance), so I won’t miss any of the things like getting to know the new students or hang out with any of the ones I know.
I’m already excited to move in and be ready to start class, I know its the summer and we should be enjoying ourselves but I love being in class and finding other beautiful things and brilliant minds to admire. Much like the scenery, It’s one of the things that draws me here and I will forever be fascinated with MECA and Maine alike.
